WHAT'S IN A NAME?

This week we encountered the daunting task of selecting a class name.  Always an entertaining process, a class name can be chosen in a number of diplomatic (or not so diplomatic) ways. But as a sports guy, there's only one way I know how. A look back at the steps that brought us to the promise land:
Step 1. Brainstorm individually.
Step 2: Share old & create new ideas with classmates.
Step 3: Pick your top four choices and make mini billboards to persuade voters.
Step 4: Check out all the potential class names and prepare to vote.
Step 5: Vote down to the Final Four
Press play to accommodate the madness.

Step 6: Establish support for your choice of one of four final teams.
Step 7: Present your reasons to the other teams and hope for the best.
Step 8: Vote it down to the final two.
Step 9: Last Chance Team Stance

And just in case you're keeping a Common Core tally at home:

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.2.5 With guidance and support from adults and peers, focus on a topic and strengthen writing as needed by revising and editing.
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.2.1 Participate in collaborative conversations with diverse partners about grade 2 topics and texts with peers and adults in small and larger groups.
